 Our Staff
Karen Curry

Karen Curry:  (Assistant Manager)

Karen is married to her wonderful husband Bob, and they have two children.  Their daughter is in college and hopes to get into the very noble world of teaching when she graduates.  Their son is heading off to college in the autumn to start his journey to become a airline pilot.  Needless to say, they are very proud of their children.

Karen has been a welcome addition to our team since March '07, and was one of our many friends that helped us with the buildout of the store way back in June '06.  She comes to us with an extensive creative background.  Karen enjoys gourmet cooking for her family on a regular basis.  She even treats us at the store on occasion and we are more than happy to indulge!!  Among Karen's many creative talents, she holds counted cross stitch and cross stitch with beads in her top spots.  In the upcoming months, Karen promises to make some samples for us to display here at the store.  We'll keep you posted!!  She always has a smile to share and can fill any room with happiness and laughter.  We're very glad to have her as part of the La Mia Felicita team!!!

Paula Brown

Paula Brown (Instructor)

Paula is our resident Russian Spiral guru, and is expanding her repertoire with some new classes!  As with all of our instructors, she is a very talented artist and instructor (and just an all around great person).  In addition to teaching the Russian Spiral, you'll find Paula teaching several other classes at La Mia Felicita.  Her newest class is the Embellished Spiral Rope.

Here is a little bio to help us all learn a bit about Paula:

"My fascination with stones began at an early age.  Left behind when her older brother and sister went to school, one of my favorite pastimes was "cracking rocks."  It was always a thrill to see if there was something sparkly inside.  Fast forward to the age when I could visit antique shops and collect vintage crystal jewelry...  Along the way, I used my creative talents to sew clothing, quilts and do ceramics.  Then, on a rainy Labor Day weekend in 2006, my friend Gail asked if there were any bead shops around.  I had no idea what a bead shop was, but they found one in the phone book and I was hooked.  Upon returning home, I went on the internet and was shocked to find a bead shop, La Mia Felicita, just minutes from my home.  I signed up for a beginner stringing class and then the Russian spiral.  And the love affair began.  The fascination with the varying color combinations is unending, and the love of sparkle continues...  Who knew this much fun could be legal?????"

We are very proud and lucky to have such a talented and diverse artist as Paula, and are glad to have her as part of the La Mia Felicita family.  Welcome Paula.

Carol Cavallaro

Carol Cavallaro:  (Instructor)

Carol is a wonderfully talented artist that makes fantastic creations with wire, and leather among other materials.  Carol writes...

"It all began with a fortune teller .of sorts. My kindergarten teacher who once made the profound statement "she's going to work with her hands someday". I can't say that I agreed as all of my Play-Doh looked like nothing from this planet.  At any rate somewhere in the last four years I found it. Anyone who has had any creative experience knows what "it" is. It is that thing that makes you say "YES" inside and makes everyone else around you convinced that you have been born to it.  So now I spend most of any time I have creating weaves and designs in chain maille, wire and leather. There seems to be no end to the possibilities and never enough time. My furry companion will agree as she sits by my side waiting with her toy for play time."

She is very passionate and enthusiastic about her work and her craft and you can see this enthusiasm in the quality of her designs.  Like she mentioned above, she found "it".  Carol is a great friend of ours and we're very fortunate to have her as part of our tremendously gifted instructor team.  Be sure to check out her classes and her work.

Nancy Murphy

Nancy Murphy:  (Instructor)

Nancy is great friend and one of our guest instructors here at La Mia Felicita.  To help get to know Nancy a little bit, she has written the following profile about herself:

"I started my beading journey when I received a necklace of my grandmother's that needed to be re-strung.  Thus began my love for beads and all things bead-related.  Prior to discovering beads, I did embroidery, cross stitch, and stamping, to name a few of my creative endeavors.  My current beading interests include combining fibers and beads in macrame and kumihimo braid projects.  When I am not beading, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Mark, or I can be found at my job working with children and families.  Discovering beading has given me new eyes to see the beauty around me and a new way to share the joy I have with others."

Nancy is a very talented artist, and we are fortunate to have her as part of the La Mia Felicita family.  She has a great way with students, and everyone always learns a lot and has a lot of fun during her classes.

Laura Potvin

Laura Potvin:  (Instructor)

Laura started making and designing beaded jewelry in the early 1990's after taking a beading class with a friend.  This quickly became a passion, and enjoyed making jewelry for friends and family.  In 2002, Laura's mother mentioned that she would like a beautiful set of crystal rosary beads.  Laura was off and running, and fashioned an absolutely beautiful set of rosary beads for her mother. Laura now makes and teaches her wonderfully beautiful custom-made rosary beads and other custom jewelry pieces, such as her anklets, wired beads, and wire clasps.  Laura only uses quality products.  Some of you may know her as Dr. Laura Potvin who graduated from the New England College of Optometry in 1987.  She joined her father, Dr. Bernard S. Potvin, in practice after graduating, began running the practice in 1988, and continues to do so today.

La Mia Felicita is very happy to have the very talented Laura Potvin as one of our friends, and instructors, where she teaches several classes and is always looking to bring new thoughts and ideas to our students.
